Limoncocha - Nature, alligators and rest
The Santa Elena community is located in the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, in the Sucumbios Province, at some 7 hours by bus from Tena and 9 hours from Quito.
Limoncocha is one of the places in Ecuador that offers greatest diversity of mammals and a huge number of amphibians, birds and reptiles. The most famous attraction are the caimans found in the lagoon: the black alligator and white alligator. It is a very important ecosystem because it has flora and fauna very interesting from the scientific point of view. It is the closest lagoon from any city in Ecuador.
