Do you want to live a unique experience, immerse yourself in a singular culture?
Do you want to discover the Amazon without leaving negative footprints?
Do you want to support a fairer and more sustainable tourism? A tourism for and by the indigenous communities?
Stop looking! RICANCIE is the right choice!
The Amazon is known as the "Lungs of our planet". In 2011, it was declared one of the seventh natural wonders of the world. Its beauty and natural and cultural treasures guarantee the health of humanity and preserve the climate balance. RICANCIE was born here.
RICANCIE is a network of eight Kichwa communities in the Alto Napo, located in the Biosphere Reserve of Sumaco, Napo Galeras. In order to counteract the abuse from the big tourist agencies towards nature and indigenous tribes in the 90s, the Kichwa communities organised themselves with the aim of promoting community tourism. We propose an alternative and self-managed program, based on the consensual participation of our members, adequate management of natural resources and renewed esteem of our culture and heritage. We want to guarantee our millenium philosophy of respect to and care for the Pachamama, our mother earth, with which we have sacred links.
